Starts Saturday........
been fun reading up on what everyone does with their solo time, I will create a trip report about what I do with my solo time when I get back, since I don't know yet.

fishing (hopefully) and photography, should occur in abundance......that is unless I change my mind
:)

Do whatever you want. Go with the whim of the moment. Enjoy yourself! It will be interesting...

A small weather/am/fm radio is something I like to listen to when things get lonely. Have a good time. Don't bring too much stuff.

And keep a journal. It helps when putting a trip report together.

I have the same issue. On group trips I get up early -usually before the sun - and paddle very slowly around the shorelines for an hour or two then come back to camp when others are just stirring.
On solos, I do a mix of shoreline and middle of the lake travel, more of the latter when I need to make miles.

I used to have a problem slowing down, but I cured myself by planning a "too-long trip" and running into "too-much-too-bad-weather". That left me with a long final day in less than ideal conditions. Unfortunately, it was the day after my planned exit day. Unfortunately, that left me with a very compressed trip home (to WV) and an exhausting first day back at work.

I plan differently now and although I plan a less aggressive trip, I may still paddle a lot, but I don't have that pressure of having to do so, which gives me the freedom to slow down. But I'm sure I'll end up having to re-learn this lesson sometime ;).

Have a great trip. Do what you want, when you want and keep busy. Enjoy the quiet times they're the best.

Enjoy yourself and take your time.

take your time on portages, and paddling. Drink it all in, talk to yourself :), sit at a small fire and ponder, look at the stars, listen to the loons at dusk, don't think about work, and enjoy every meal.

thanks everyone
Have to keep in mind to slow down
every trip in my life has always been get up, gobble down breakfast and go like hell to the next campsite

packing right now, and thinking I have too much stuff...my food/kitchen/misc pack seems kinda heavy but then weighing it in at 50 pounds.....guess not. I always have one of my sons along to carry the food :)
The other pack weighs 30, so not too bad at all

going to head up to Sawbill tomorrow morning and spending the day at the campground right there.

got my Lindy rigs and Gulp Leeches....hope they work

got my photography for dummies book and 3 extra batteries for my camera

see ya all on the other side.
