Actually, you better check with Fitger's first. I'm not sure they do. They are currently selling aluminum growlers for about $50, and I think they may have phased out the plastic Nalgene ones.

No problem, mikea. Lots of brewing activity going on in Duluth right now. The Cold Press Black Ale is very, very good, if you like porters and stouts. It's like a cross between the two. Don't know if they have the Calibrator IPA left, but that was also very good.

Fitgers would probably still fill them, but definitely call ahead. Because those growlers don't have a brewer's name printed on them, there may be a few other breweries that may be willing to fill them (Castle Danger east of Two Harbors and Canal Park in Duluth, might). It depends on how each particular brewery interprets/complies with the growler law. When it comes to glass growlers, they are only supposed to fill/exchange ones with their name printed on them, but there seems to be a little bit more leeway with plastic and aluminum growlers.

The brewhouse nalgene growlers are labeled, at least all mine are. I didn't know its against the law to fill unlabeled ones. I guess if it wasn't a guy could just bring in milk jugs and say fill 'er up!

I think in Minnesota, it's actually they are only supposed to fill growlers with their name on it, and when it comes to glass growlers, I'm not sure you will find any brewers willing to bend the rule. But with unlabeled Nalgene and aluminum growlers of the 64-ounce variety, it seems there's been a little bit more leeway, though some brewers will refuse to fill them.

Mystery solved. They no longer sell te Nalgene after Nalgene raised their (brewhouse) minimum order from 500 to 10,000 units. Too much overhead for the BH. They do sell a spendy SS thermos growler and the glass is still available.

And as of September 2013 they still will fill their nalgens if you bring them in.
