Here's a great action/adventure/thriller book that's set in the BWCA. It's an edge of your seat page-turner for those nights when you have to retreat to your tent to escape the mosquitos...so pretty much every night.

Thank you, Marty. Very kind of you. I think you'll enjoy it. There's a fair amount (basically 100%) of fishing, hiking, wilderness survival, etc... all set in the B-Dub.

Just ordered a copy. Chris, you should maybe post in the general discussion forum. A lot more people view that forum than us word nerds here in the book section. And there's lots of readers there.:)

Thank you, Marty. Much appreciated.
And thanks to Paul for the kind words too.
I've posted a couple times in the General Discussion, but the moderators have taken them down. Guess it's too "commercial." I suppose it is, though I hoped it would've been considered BWCA appropriate given the subject matter.
So this time, no links to outside sites - and nothing specific about the person who wrote it...even though he has a name suspiciously similar to my own.

Really happy to hear you liked it, Marty.
That's very kind of you to talk to the library too. I really think it belongs in more hands up north.

+1
Looking forward to the sequel!

quote h20: "Any news on the sequel, Chris?"
Hi Marty,
Thanks for asking. My publisher is currently reviewing book two, and I'm impatiently waiting to hear back. I'm hoping for a May release date, but that might be a little too optimistic.
While waiting to hear back the second book, I just wrote the third one. It's a rough draft, but that gives me plenty of time to clean it up.
The process seems to be a lot like the movie business, where they stretch out the release of the sequels endlessly...only without the fame and fortune, haha.

I wish, Dave. Most likely not. I don't have any connections in the movie business, so it's very unlikely a producer would ever hear anything about the trilogy.
On the writing side, I have a tentative date for the release of book two - Rebellion in Northwoods. It should be out around the first of July.

Thanks for asking, Dave. Things have slipped a bit on the publisher's schedule. I've been promised that the ebook will be out by mid-July with paperback to follow a week or two later. Hopefully by the end of the month. I have my fingers crossed that the release date doesn't slip again.

Getting excited for the release. Will this be available on Kindle as the first one was?? Thanks, can't wait.

It makes me super happy to hear that, Trent. You guys are the best.
The book should be coming out on Kindle and Nook in about two weeks. The paperback follows a week or so after that.
Here's a sneak peek at the cover for Book 2:

Nice cover! Good luck and can't wait for the sequel to read. I'm on a canoe trip in the BWCA Aug 5th, and I'm hoping to have it with me.

I have news! Finally!!
Though it almost took me by surprise, Book 2 was released late Saturday night. You can find Rebellion in Northwoods on the Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites.
It's the ebook for now. Paperback will be coming, supposedly in a week or two (so that might mean three the way things have been going).
Thank you for all your support. It's been gratifying to know people are reading this stuff and wanting more.

Chris I have a brother that lives in O'Fallon. He and his wife both are retired from Zumwalt but still sub. He used to coach varsity boys baseball. He now helps run a gun club out there. Does the name John Dunkman ring a bell?

Hey Dave. I think I've heard the name, but never met him. My oldest son goes to that high school, but he's only going to be a sophomore. His science teacher last year was sooo young. Maybe 22 or 23? Could've been John's replacement if he retired recently.

John does long-term subbing for a number of people over there that need a few months off for different reasons. He also ran the St Peters Legion baseball club for ~ 25 years, coaching them most of those years.
I can't wait to get my hands on your book. I'm leaving for the Boundary Waters Sunday for a week in the north woods, and I want to have it for a rainy day. I like your cover!

I am enjoying this book as much as I did the first. The Kindle says 84% complete and have been kind of pacing myself. It is hard to only read a chapter or two each night but I am forcing myself because I do not think I will be able to wait for the third!!!! I am already wondering what I will catch when I re-read it that I missed when I read it the first time. TL
I am teacher and my kids really get into this genre and they get me into as well.

Just joined the book club thread so had not seen this until now. I really enjoyed the first book and am glad to hear that teh sequel is available now!
Took a look at your profile and notice we share a birthday! One more reason to like it! :)
Any updates on the third installment?

That's great, Trent. I know what you mean. I'm no teen, but I've really come to love those Young Adult books. Not too much on the sparkly fantasy stuff, but adventure/dystopian/thrillers are all high on my list.

Hey Brandon. Welcome to the club! Oddly enough, my wife shares a birthday with us too. Same day, month, year...
The third book is mostly written. I only have a few final edits left to make, then I'll ship it off to the publisher. It will be a while, though. They like to drag out releases like movie sequels, so I expect it will be at least early 2015 before the third book is finally available.
The paperback release of Rebellion has been very slow too. I'm hearing it should finally be ready by Sept 10th.

The paperback is out! Finally. Whew! That really seemed to take forever this time.
I greatly appreciated how everyone continued to ask about the new release. I'm excited to hear your thoughts on it. It might seem weird to say, but I think it's a better book than the first.
Currently on Amazon - search for Chris Bostic or Rebellion in Northwoods. Should be up on the Barnes & Noble website soon too.

Just reread "Fugitives" before I start "Rebellion." I so much enjoyed reading about those lakes i've tripped in. I can't tell you how many pike I've caught in that south bay of Splash before the narrows, for eample. It's like I'm there with them because of the accuracy of the descriptions and such. I'm so glad you're writing more in the series. Thanks
