Grampa called them 'flying skunks'
Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

I was out cross country skiing in the fresh snow and came across a bloody spot in the snow with only the wings of a Blue Jay, a few small feathers. The cool thing was that there was a perfect imprint of the wings of the raptor that killed and ate the jay in the snow. Jays are not at the top of the food chain I guess.
Wilderness both captivates your soul and sets it free :)
