3ball...great action shot and very sharp"
interesting...the bottom swan is a Mute Swan..where did you get that?I believe they were imported from Europe and Asia by cities back in the day for their parks/ponds...they are aggressive to other species and considered an invasive. When I moved to the town I live it 30 years ago, they had a pair on the lake there.

I decided to pass on the Vikings game today and go for a hike in the snow and see if any swans were holed up in a piece of water that usually stays open all winter. A very enjoyable afternoon, I had 50 yard line front row seats to lots of landings and takeoffs.

in 1985 i pulled off the waterway at Coleman Island to shelter under this tree.it was a major downpour and in those days my rain gear was an old poncho that was also my ground cloth.
i propped the canoe over one of the low branches and waiting the storm out.later that day i discovered i lost my watch. there was a hurried jumble of gear involved so it must have been the place.
ever since then when i pass that way i always take a snack break and look for that watch!

Not a real special picture.....more of a memory as I sit here looking at the snow and feeling the cold. Three short weeks ago I was hunting ducks on the Mississippi backwaters which I am sure are now frozen up tight......"

Dragonfly Log.
on our honeymoon up in the Q years ago my wife sat on this log and watched a dragonfly hatch out.she still talks about it as a "mystical" experience.in 2005 i was on lake agnes again and found the log still there sticking out in the lake, sand washed up around it but there.

Thanks. My camera gets a little "grainy" when I zoom too far. I believe I did zoom a little. Later on, I realized what you said.....it captured some neat things.....the leaning tree, the wake and the background trees also added something.

This is from behind my cabin several years ago. Heavy rains before freeze-up brought the Roseau River to the top of its banks and then it got really cold. As the water ran out underneath the ice collapsed. I was not there but can't imagine what that sounded like ad 14" thick ice was breaking up.

i need to get back up to the Q so i can figure out why i took this picture!
it's someplace along the "long point" half way up Lake Agnes.looking at the shots before and after it might be a place to land and cross over to the bay behind the point saving the paddle around, but????

One of my golden retrievers from years gone by. This was here last hunt before retirement. It was a cold snowy day with lots of action. She showed my young lab up on several long retrieves. A very memorable day.

i have never had a sporting dog,a retrieve mix as a house dog but never a dog i went hunting with.that old one looks like it's %100 with the game knowing that it's filling it's part of the hunt.

If you want to find out where it was banded you can go Here and report it. One I reported last winter was banded near Tomah Wi.
