Left for work on Wednesday just as the sun was rising over Prior Lake. All I had was my iPhone and it didn't do justice to this sunrise. The ice crystals in the -15 air were sparkling rainbow colors across the lake right up to the camera.

mocha..the building is the ruins of the spring house that was there in the 30's.it had a roof and was used by folks who camped there.back then it was out of town!!google cold water spring for all the history.
the National park Service now has created a national park along both sides of the Mississippi.the spring has a long history and after the buildings from the Geological Service were torn down the NPS is trying to restore the area.they planted 100's of oaks and native plants.
what i do is take a photo at the start and end of each month from the same place to show how things change i shoot from the hill side down to the pond to keep that power pole out of the shot.another fellow is doing the same thing at Minnehaha falls
the spring is just a walk from the house and we go down there quite a bit. here are a couple other photos to give you an idea.
so what will happen is someone at the NPS who knows a lot more about photo shop sort of stuff than me will edit and line up all the shots to get the exact same view and it will go onto a Power Point at the the Science Museum NPS display.

quote MHS67: "quote Mocha: "well, it is considered very lean meat which is good for a person.
trail camera is in place so hopefully tomorrow morning there will be wolf(s) to see, too!"
Any luck with the trail camera?"
not really, other than me, the back of a live deers head, the fanny pack of some guy walking up to check it out and then a big white blank.
something came in before daylight and got one leg and moved the carcass about 2 feet.
now the carcass has been moved (by humans) out onto the lake in the hopes the wolves will come back and clean it up.
I've relocated the trail cam and already saw one flash, so something walking in the line of sight.

I find myself coming to this forum first on a regular basis. I really enjoy all the pictures that are being shared. I find myself stopping to study this one often. I love the warm peachy colored sky with the reflection and the restful quality of it. Nice shot Doc!

quote Mocha: "this morning. this is more sad than the other one from a few days ago. this was a 10pt buck that had just lost his antlers last week. we keep pretty close tabs on the bucks around here.

quote Mocha: "enough with the dead deer! I should realize some people might not like to see that sort of thing.
this is my wallpaper until I find something better. makes me feel like walking right into those trees."
Well, I liked the deer wolf photo. Its something most of us don't have a chance to get.

quote Mocha: "what are they looking for/eating? you should call Ted Nugent.. he loves to hunt 'the hog'!"
When the ground is wet here the worms are close enough to the surface for the pigs to root up and eat. They also eat plant tubers and just about anything else. They will even eat other dead animals. Ted Nugent like to hunt them,,,mmmm
