Been looking at the calendar and trying pick dates for a June solo. I was re-reading BWJ Stu's article on walleye fishing (summer '13 issue) where he says the best time for catching BIG walleye in the Q are the three days before and after the full moon nearest Fathers' Day. This year, that would be the 9th through the 16th. Any of you have think there's much truth to this? (I can probably get in no earlier than the 10th this year, and the smallies on topwater window may have closed.) Also, any suggestions in the Jean, Little Jean, Burntside, Rogue Lakes, area? (Wait... I know, it's fished out.) --Goose
Soloing is sweet, but a good partner is "priceless."
That's my favorite time to go on a trip if I plan on fishing walleyes heavily. We caught tons of big smallies on Burntside (or Budside depending on your map) on topwaters up against shady, rocky shorelines during that time frame.
