With the 1911 Weeks Act, the Forest Service gained the authority to purchase private lands, enabling the agency to buy lands that would eventually become the BWCA. The Act was signed into law by President William H. Taft. Ironically Taft never got to enjoy the weight loss benefits of a wilderness vacation with freeze dried food.

Fish, for sport only, not for meat. Fish meat is practically a vegetable.
