Not sure if it's ok to post non bwca pics but I saw some cows and other stuff so I decided to go ahead with it. If that's a problem just say the word and I won't post anymore pics. Taken at my local state park and sent through Lightroom and then to Photoshop.

There are only a couple of rules....one picture a day and taken outdoors. Of course canoe country pics are often the primary theme but recent pics from around the neighborhood get posted often as well. It adds lots of variety and makes it fun to stop by and see what everyone has to share.
Nice picture. It won't be long now and the lush green forest will be back.

That is Echo Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park MB. That trip was from a fly-in fishing trip with my 11 year old son. My dad took me there in 1969 when I was 11 so that is my connection to this lake. That fall I took a solo canoe trip there. I posted a trip report here. Echo Lake is a beautiful lake with lots of rock around the lake that is easy to hike. I need to get back there.

Sorry not BW related but I finally have a bird pic to share. I believe this is a tree sparrow. I was at my grand daughter's track meet last week and while waiting for her to compete I checked out the area around the school and found this little gem.

Good article. A lot of states, mine included have gone to a beet juice solution. The freezing point is way lower than the salt that most states use. One would think that using a vegetable would be a lot easier on the environment, let's hope so.

A pic from northern WI. There are some knowledgeable bird people in this forum and I thought I could tap into your expertise to identify this one. I've gone through my bird books and haven't found it yet. Warbler? Vireo? Not sure. What look like stripes on the head are throwing me off.

Mr. Plums, thanks for your response. My daughter sent me the pic and it was the best one she got. She needed help with the ID. This last month she and I have been spending a day a week birding and we've gotten the bug to know what we are looking at. She runs a youth camp in north central WI and is considering putting in a bird study program so is doing her homework.

I tried getting a shot at several of these warblers for about 15 minutes. Out of about 50 shots I only got one that wasn't blurred or flew out of the frame before I clicked. They sure don't like to sit still. Again, I am bad at warbler ID so not sure what kind of warbler.
