If camping on Duncan, or another lake in the region, I was wondering if it was against BWCA permit regulations to portage from Duncan into Moss for a day trip and then head back to your campsite on Duncan. It looks like only the northern border of Moss is in the BWCA and the lake itself is outside, so technically you would be leaving and re-entering the BWCA. Thanks for any advice.

I do not know the exact language, but you would be O.K. A similar example would be hiking the BRT and on through the Kek. You would be a full day outside the BWCA on one permit. I believe that by the letter of the law one should get a second permit, but the rangers confirmed I would be O.K. There are other routes that cross areas outside the BWCA.

Arrowhead -- You may get better responses to your question if you post it in the trip planning forum.
When I first read the title to this thread I wondered what the recipe was for "Duncan to Moss" ... is it a cake?

Ha, I have no idea how this ended in the recipe forum. I kept looking for responses, but then couldn't even find the thread in trip planning, so I thought the the moderators removed it for some reason. Thanks for the responses anyways!
