Just having some coffee here this morning and ran across a picture of my personal hunting knife. Sambar Stag handle with stainless steel guard and butt cap with W2 tool steel blade.
I'm browsing through old posts and this one raised a question. First of all a gorgeous knife. The handle widens which looks to me like it would be a good one to grasp. I wondered why you chose a stag handle for your personal knife. You seem to make so many gorgeous wooden handled ones. Does stag give an overall better grip?
The grip on stag is pretty obvious. As well, good quality Sambar stag is nearly non-existent anymore. The last legal mass import of Sambar Stag from India was in 2003. Any material we see in use today is from private stash of makers who bought a lot some time ago or from the dwindling supply still held by dealers. I like stag for its beauty. And I will make another one and retire this one.
Speaking of handle woods; did you get any black and white ebony from Chad H ? Those bows that went to MT were mine. I keep looking for you to post a photo of a knife with black and white ebony scales.

I nearly never use scales. Most of my knives are hidden tang construction. That said, I didn't get any b/w ebony from Chad. I'm certainly not opposed to it, it just never seems to come up in my affairs.
