Turned 60 in October and like many I have made it my New Years resolution to eat better, and exercise regularly.

I purchased a couple of paperbacks that were recommended to me by a bud and they involve the "PALEO DIET'. Have any bwca folks tried PALEO?

I would appreciate your thoughts.

My goal is to get from 214 down to 195...and go from there. I am carrying too much on this 6 ft. frame. My annual physical says my triglycerides are a tad on the high side and my blood pressure which was always around 122/78 has crept up the past year and is now considered high. I figure poor eating habits and inactivity are to blame.

I have a friend who's entire family does Paleo and it works great for them. I myself do the 5-2 diet and I'm trying to mix in a little of the raw food diet.

Well we are past the holidays so it will be easier to start. And the diet your trying has a lot of recipes on the net.

What works the best is awareness. Awareness of what you are eating and why..such as stress, mindless eating, the ease of on-the-go foods, versus meal planning ahead of time. Awareness of Getting enough sleep, where our metabolism and hormone levels are affected the most. Stress- the awareness of how we hang on to it or cling or take on more, because in our culture it is almosted lauded to have a high threshold, and therefore take on more. When we become cognizant of our lifestyle and practice awareness techniques..( the same we use in the wild) we can maintain homeostasis and our mind-body-spirit connection increases.. Fitness and health then become a relatively easy reflection of who we all are.. And become much more fun and enjoyable!

Paleo is a very legitimate approach. Is the book you purchased by Robb Wolf? Many people at my crossfit box are into Paleo and agree with the science behind it. I also agree with Mr. Wolf in that there are variations to account for how our bodies react to various things.
