Just a question to those who have tripped up/down this river. Would it be worth taking a couple hours out of a day to paddle up the river a couple miles and float down? I'm curious about what the current is like on the river and whether it moves fast enough to move a canoe without having to paddle back down. Thanks.

I paddled to it from kawnipi but didn't travel very far up. it does have fast moving water farther up.

Down by kawnipi its like the perfect spawning area. Slow moving through fields of wild rice.

And Walleye fishing near the mouth of the river as it enters Kawnipi can be good - eater size when we were there. Funny thing is that when you are on the lower section of the river, it looks like any river in the midwest.
