Has anyone ever cooked up crayfish in the bwca? I got a few questions
Is it legal?
Do they taste good?
How do you prepare them?
Is it safe to eat them?

It is legal to catch them if you have a fishing license. Just put some fish guts in a minnow trap overnight. You will have lots of them in the morning. Ensign lake has a great population of the rusty brown crayfish.

We roasted a few, on Ensign. They came out after dark to hang out on the rock landing at our camp site. Pinch the tails and suck the heads, that's the Cajun way!

Its legal, have done it a few times. They are smaller then the ones in southern states but they taste good. we just boiled them and dipped them in butter. good little snack.
