The report got a bit wordy! Here is a 5 minute Youtube video.

I enjoyed your trip report and video. Your dog made me laugh - reminded me of my daughter's old dog.

I have always heard that the longer portage is easier than the two short ones there; kind of surprised you didn't try it on the way back.

After quite a few solo trips, and longer ones, I've learned how to keep the food weight closer to what I actually eat. Early on I think I took twice what I ate :). And that would weigh a lot extra on a 12-day trip.

Thanks for the report and video - the Lady Chain is on my to-do list. The Louse River too.

What a great canoe partner. He looks like a good tripper. Your new ride looks nice!

Nice report. That area is on my list at some point. I love the adventurous attitude of "I need a permit, what's open?" That is a pretty boat, I bet it is hard to 'break it in' with a few scratches. Thanks for packing out found trash- not everyone would do that.

That nerve that sparks whenever we hit a 'just below the surface' rock was especially sensitive for me on this trip, but I worked past it pretty fast. I remember as a kid when I got my first pair of good downhill skis going out on the hill and doing all I could keep them new. I was miserable trying to protect them. Finally some other kid ran right across them leaving big scratched across the face. I was mad for 5 minutes, then went on to have a lot of fun the rest of the day. It's gonna get scratched....its not worth being miserable again.

What's the brand of your dog pack.

Mountainsmith. I've used their lumbar packs for 15 years as camera bags and swear by they. My dogs pack is I think a size M which seemed right when I got it for him at age 1-1/2. Now slightly larger would do. He doesn't carry all his own food, but usually about 5-6 days worth.

Thanks, Phisherman. I was pleased with how it turned out. It was shot with a Sony ActionCam AS30v on 1080/60 hd.

Hey Jaywalker. It was great meeting you at Wingnight. Funny how you knew exactly who I was when I said Regent looks just like my dog :)
