After spending 4 months straight in a tent this summer, coming back to college has left me with camping withdrawals. Winter break is coming up here in a few weeks, thinking about doing a few days solo snowshoeing in northern Wisconsin.
Any tips for a short winter solo?

I don't know Wisconsin well so can't help with specific locations, but I will point out that - as long as you are not near a snowmobile trail - its a lot easier to feel remote and isolated in winter. State parks or forest areas that seem crowded in summer will likely be empty now. I think its a lot easier to find great winter locations. Enjoy!

Nicolet Wilderness Areas I have been into Blackjack Springs and Headwaters.
Jones Springs is more to the south Lakewood - Laona District. Nothern and Souther Kettle Morrain state forests have backpack shelters on the Ice Age Trail . I want to spend time in the Black River State Forest this winter. Lots of great places close.

Copper Falls State Park is another option. The North Country trail goes thru there and there is a backpack in campsite on the trail not too far in.
