I am looking at a mid to late September trip into Malberg Lake and beyond via the Kawishiwi Lake entry point. I have never entered from this location and was wondering if low water levels will be an issue on the trip to Malberg Lake. If anyone has traveled that time of year through this area, or is in the area in the next few weeks, I would appreciate any information on portage and canoeing difficulties.
Thanks

I have traveled through there 3X in that time period. Once water levels were high, once low, once average. I just dealt with what was there at the time and wouldn't let any of it stop me from doing it again. Low water created some longer, muddier portages and higher water created some flooded ones, but also the opportunity to pull over some beaver dams rather than portage.

Cool trip. Water levels should be decent for paddling.....maybe a little funky around portage landings. Some burn area at the start.....gone by Polly. Adams is a nice lake if you get up that far. The island campsite is a gem. I've also stayed on Amber at the East site ......solitude. Fishdance pictos are nearby. I liked the high site in the mid lake narrows on Malberg.

You won't have any major issues with water levels. Like others said some spots may or not be muddy and that is about it. Everything else will be pretty straightforward.
