Oldtown, here is a great option for you. Enter at East Bearskin Lake (on a permit for ep #66, quirk of the system). Paddle about 35-40 minutes to the portage on the south shore to Crocodile Lake. Take the 100 rod or a little more portage that starts out steep but then becomes moderate to crocodile. 4 campsites on the lake. 1st is marginal but would be fine for a solo. Second is a great site with good shorefishing opportunities and a nice open camp area, but not real open to the lake. Third is okay, again fine for a solo. Fourth is really nice but not much for shorefishing. Third and fourth are in the eastern end of the lake and it gets quite narrow down there.
It is a dead end lake so doesn't get much traffic. On that permit you must stay all nights on Crocodile which discourages some folks too - generally very quiet. Now the good news, excellent walleye fishing, almost easy, with jumbo perch and some pike as well. A very remote feel to it for being as close to the entry as it is. I have seen more wildlife there than most other places. Car to camp in a few hours depending on how you portage and which campsite you take.
There are tons of walleyes in the "eater" range, say 12-17 inches. But also some nicer ones as well, we have caught a few over 20 and there's probably bigger ones, we honestly haven't fished it that much. For an easy entry with a remote feel, good wildlife opportunities and great walleye fishing, this one is as good as any.

Crocodile Lake Let me know if there are any questions. BTW, I like Gabbro a lot too, great fishing and nice sites but busy. Vista is a great walleye lake, a sentimental favorite but only one nice site and hard to get. Crocodile is at least as good or a better option as these.
