Trip Introduction:
My college buddy Matt and I left on Tuesday night after work for our fishing trip to the BW. We both love to gamble and we planned that into our trip as well. We arrived at Black Bear at about 11 PM and played poker and blackjack until 5 AM. Then we went to the ranger station in Cook and made it to ep 14 by 9 am.
Day 1 of 3
Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Today started with us paddling our way up the river and into Upper Pauness. There was a faster group behind us that we knew was going to Shell lake so we took the 40 rod into lower Pauness and let them take the 12 rod and pass us. We then did the 216 rod into Shell, paddled around the lake and eventually settled on the single island campsite on the south side of the lake. After dinner we sat by the shore fishing and drinking well into the night. We caught three walleyes, one nice one, and saved them all for breakfast. We couldn't have asked for a nicer night the weather was great. We got some much needed rest after not sleeping for over 36 hours tonight.
