Return to Woodland Caribou Park

Lakes: Upper Kilburn, Kilburn. Travel Distance 7km. Portages: 1 for 1km.
This is to be a very short travel day back to Kilburn. A great sunny warm day. My finger is much better than I had feared. Bandaged and duct taped it only hurts if I put direct pressure on it and does not interfere with paddling at all. We paddle to the east end of Upper Kilburn and take the 1km portage into Kilburn Lake. This portage is not shown on the current park map but Albert has marked it on our topos. The longest potage of this trip but one of the easiest ones. We travel east to the main body of the lake and choose a site on the west shore not far from the Island site we stayed the first night. Set up camp and off to fish and explore Kiburn Lake. Jim and I head back to the portage landing from Upper Kilburn to take a swim on the sandy beach. After the refreshing dip we fish our way back to camp for a shore lunch. The rest of the days is spent fishing and paddling. After another great fish supper, Jim and I head out to check out some of the other campsites on the lake. Just south of the middle arm is a very nice sight with 3 fishing boats chained up on shore. Looks like it has been awhile since they have been in the water. We finally head back to camp in the moonlight.
