We woke up an hour later than normal for our last morning in Quetico. Had a relaxed breakfast and still made it onto the water earlier than we had on our first day. The girls were definitely more efficient after nearly a week in Quetico! The wind started kicking up pretty good on our paddle out. We portaged across to Nym, with me once again making a second trip to piggyback our “wounded”. By this time, the wind had really picked up and Nym had swells and whitecaps the height of our gunnels. I was genuinely concerned about swamping a canoe, but we completed the trip without that ever happening. Everyone was in high spirits and had really enjoyed the trip. They had pushed themselves farther than they had ever though possible, in fact, probably almost to their limits. They had done it without complaint and in great spirits, even after the minor injuries. A trip that will surely not be soon forgotten.
