Saturday, July 27. The dawn came slowly, with continued rain and high winds. It had rained all night. The tent leaked, my sleeping bag was wet and full of sand, I had even worn my sweatshirt with the hood up all night to keep warm. It was one of those moments when I asked myself what had I done? Here I am, 66 years old, and I had just spent a lot of money to travel half way around the world to sleep on the sand and be wet, cold, and miserable? So we spent the entire day at the site, with the wind and rain only beginning to decrease in the afternoon. We spent out time getting to know each other and drying clothes and sleeping bags by the fire. As we had a protected bay off our beach, we did go out in the canoe for a try at fishing. This time the Quetico did not disappoint me. Within a short time I had a pike and a small mouth bass that we would have for dinner! As darkness approached we were optimistic for better weather tomorrow and to be able move on and find a real camp site!
