Trip Introduction:
1st trip report ever 4 long time friends decided to take an easy trip. The goal was to do some fishing and relax. 3 of us set up the trip and at the last minute asked another friend to go with us, this is his first trip to the bdub North. But he has been in a canoe many times. The group consisted of me, Captn Tony, Captn Carp, Mr. Leach, and Big Dave.
Day 1 of 6
Tuesday, August 20, 2019 Our usual plan is to take off after work, drive all night, (8 hour drive to Ely), and sleep a couple of hours in the car and take off in the morning. But 2 of us are self employed and the other 2 had vacation time so we decided to take off at noon instead, to give us plenty of time to get our licenses, bait and any extra things we might want. As luck would have it there was a huge backup between Albert Lea and the Cities which set us back about an hour. Most of the drive up there Captn Carp and I argued and bitched at each other. Big Dave who had never been on a trip with us couldn't believe we were still talking by the time we got up there. He told us we acted like a old married couple, well that wasn't the first time we were told that. Got to Voyagers North just before they closed got our permits and our rooms. Decided to walk up up town for a beer as we were too pumped up to go to sleep. FYI: Voyagers North is a long walk from the first bar, but eventually we got to Zaverl's and had a couple and then had the long walk back.
