Day 5 of 9
Friday, June 30, 2017 Day 6 Friday. Emerald It rained pretty hard during the night, still a little overcast. Made oatmeal for breakfast. We rig up lines under the tarp and get stuff hung up to dry. We lift up the tent and there is a puddle under it on the Tyvek ground cloth and we look under the Tyvek liner we have on the floor of the tent and find another big puddle. I get everything out and sponge out the water and flip up the tent to dry. We had 3 pieces of Tyvek. I cut a small piece off the one in the tent to use as a place to put on shoes in front of the tent. One in and one under the tent and a piece to cover the firewood. It is a lot lighter than the tarp and we consider it disposable, so we don’t worry about messing it up. We heated water on the stove for a bath, washed a load of clothes and hung them up under the tarp and had Bacon and fried egg sandwiches for lunch. We fished a little off the site and explored around the site. It seems like a place that has been camped at for many years. There's a lot of cover and a big ravine behind the site for protection. There's also a lake up there somewhere, but I didn't get to it. The rain finally started to clear out and get sunny in the afternoon. Yay. Made beef tacos, rehydrated corn, rice , and cold brew tea for dinner,. We dehydrated our own beef and corn. The corn needed a packet of sugar and butter. It is ok. Have biscotti, chase down the chipmunks with the napkins from the fire pit, brush teeth, put up bear bags, burn TP and to bed at 11. We can see stars and half a moon.
