Monday, June 30, 2025 Allen > Horseshoe portage (51r) was rocky, but no mud. Horseshoe seemed like the perfect place for a moose sighting considering the inlets, reeds, and narrow passages. We stayed at #673 and it was solid, but it turned out to be a turtle nesting ground. All the eggs were unfortunately eaten, and two turtles visited us in the evening to discover the nests. Tried fishing, no luck (other canoeists reported poor fishing as well).
