Day 3 of 7
Monday, August 24, 2026 For obvious reasons, this day was reserved for nothing but rest and recovery. I woke up in my Hennessey Hammock to an absolutely beautiful view of the lake and decided to do a little fishing off the nearby point. Caught nothing but snags but was able to chat with a nice couple who helped me get unhooked from a rock. After brief conversation, they told me they’ve been coming to Lake Alice for over 40 years! I’m hopeful I’ll be able to convince my fiancée to make the trek out here with me at least once. After that it was back to camp to help with some pancakes and eggs for breakfast. Spent the rest of the day mostly hanging around on the beach, doing some swimming, and chatting with the guys. We got blessed again with another perfect day of weather. Sun was shining, light winds, and just warm enough to make you want to swim but not too warm where you’re uncomfortable in the sun. In the later afternoon I managed to talk the guys into doing some fishing (to be fair it did not take much convincing). Light winds allowed us to paddle around a bit and find an underwater island that held a few fish, 7 fish caught in total between the 6 of us over only 90 or so minutes. After a later dinner we were able to stay up later under the moonlight and hang out, what a great group of guys I was blessed to take this trip with. I was warned by many before coming up here that the bugs would be unbearable but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Even under the moonlight nobody was getting bit up too bad.
