01/23/2024 01:34PM Utilized this route for my first solo in 2022.. Overall a easy trip down Moose River South.. Just watch out for the big beaver dam.. on my return the water level increased making the pull over a bit tricky.. Stayed at the site on the north east side.. IMHO the best site on the lake.. Note the canoe landing (easy load in/out) is on the north side of the site.. Here's a video on the trip.. https://youtu.be/FjjKrN6S7_Y RW |

01/20/2024 01:32PM Thanks - funny enough, after I asked for directions I took a larger view of the area and found it! I initially thought it was a smaller body of water near Big Moose given the "pond" designation. I appreciate the reply. |

07/27/2022 05:31PM Could you be more specific of what type of trip you’re looking to do? Basecamping? Fishing? Exploring? Big Moose has several nice sites, two beaches, and good walleye and bass fishing. You should not see too many people as the FS lowered the permits. Cummings Lake has excellent bass fishing and also some great sites. Check out the maps section here to find the best ones. As a side trip you could go to Coxey Pond which also has excellent bass fishing. |

07/25/2022 12:00PM Welcome to bwca.com! It's a bit dated but, the information provided in this trip report should still be helpful. I can say the first few sites on Cummings after entering from Big Moose are top notch. Also, we got towed across Burntside on this trip. |

07/25/2022 10:47AM Hello! We are headed in at #8 and heading toward Cummings. We have six nights and seven days and are looking at exiting at Burntside and getting a tow back from the outfitter. We have been in the BWCA three times Its it’s been 9+ years and we usually go out of Little Indian Sioux. Any advice on good campsites or lakes/routes would be helpful and much appreciated. Thank you! |
