05/06/2021 01:17PMLG2: "Well, I think we must have been the crew that left the day you paddled in. We stayed in the west site. Had a great week but terrible fishing. I spoke to several other people that had poor fishing that week before too. And now you’re the second person that has described incredible fishing the week after we left! I am happy for you and what a great trip." That is a bummer to hear but sometimes it really does come down to timing, more than anything. Our first two days on Knife, Little Knife and Amoeber were tough...until the afternoon on Amoeber when it really picked up and didn't slow down for the rest of the trip. I am trying to make this September Lake Trout season-closing a tradition with my friends. It is just about the time Lakers start to come up shallow and really start to feed. This is the second year in a row (2019 in Quetico) we have had fantastic laker fishing that last week in September. Our luck really seems to coincide with the first few bone-chilling cold fall nights of the season. |

04/10/2021 01:34PM Excellent report! Thanks for taking the time to share your story and photos. I camped on Amoeber earlier that spring and got into some chunky lake trout as well but, not quite the size you did. Enjoyed your descriptions of the 'Enchanted Forest portage' as well. Awe and wonder are easy to come by along that magical portage. |

01/10/2021 04:35PMericinely: "No whitefish. Our baits were probably too big for most whitefish. Wouldnt be surprised if there were a lot in there, though. That would explain the above average trout size/weight" My mistake, always thought there was whitefish in there but there is just cisco or tullipee-which is yes the best food available for trout growth. |

01/10/2021 04:30PM Thanks for the positive feedback everyone! It was a lot of work uploading my blog posts from my website to the finicky format used here on the forum. It will take me a while to get them all uploaded...in the meantime, feel free to check out my website if you're interested in more trip reports. Chasing Farwater Trip Reports/Adventures |

01/10/2021 12:24PM I'm not into fishing, but those were some beautiful fish pics. The grouse pic was awesome, too. I am in total agreement with you about the campsite ratings. For me, a 5 is an intimate campsite that still has pine needles coating the ground. Hence I rarely rate sites. Nice report, thanks for taking the time. |

01/07/2021 12:20PM I concur with the others. Great trip report and great pictures. It was very enjoyable to read. I'm glad you were able to eat the fruits of your labor most nights. Persistent rain. Add in some wind, snow, and hail. Humbling is right... |

01/04/2021 11:47AM very nice report, Amoeber is a tough lake to fish usually and yes the Big Cedar on the Hansen portage are impressive. |
