04/03/2015 05:14PM "This story made me cringe the whole time, I wish the bear had killed him. He is everything that is wrong with people who go into the wilderness-what an ignorant white trash idiot, sorry this all just pissed me off. The fact he has 3 kids also makes me concerned there are 3 more future idiots the same as him." I bet she's a hoot at parties, about as much fun as three kittens in a piñata full of thumb tacks. |

04/03/2015 07:42AM I forwarded this to my daughter who went with me last summer to the Q, and who later last year had a real encounter with 2 mountain lions while soloing on the Colorado trail-her response: Dad, This story made me cringe the whole time, I wish the bear had killed him. He is everything that is wrong with people who go into the wilderness-what an ignorant white trash idiot, sorry this all just pissed me off. The fact he has 3 kids also makes me concerned there are 3 more future idiots the same as him. |

03/30/2015 09:10AM Um no. Proud East sider. Troup 42. Forest and Case. The BWCAW has a section named after another East sider, Bruce Vento. |

03/29/2015 01:13PM Problem is that if you're from east st paul this is probably actually how a camping trip would go, probably a true story. |

02/02/2015 07:10PM OMG what a sense of humor! I couldn't help but think of Earnest T Bass from the old Andy Griffith Show. |

01/27/2015 11:53AM I skipped the first day and started reading on day 2. At first I thought you were serious, wasn't until day 3 that I totally realized it was a joke. I almost had to stop reading it a few times. I just had my appendix taken out yesterday (Seriously) and the few Laproscpic (sp) incisions were hurting and I couldn't control my laughing. Nice one. |

01/16/2015 09:42AM Love the story! Your writing style reminds me a bit of the outdoor humorist "Pat McManus". If all else fails, you can write for "Outdoor Life" magazine. I am still laughing!!!!! |

01/16/2015 09:28AM Enjoyed the story. Some talented writing there. I see a series in your future. |

01/15/2015 06:58PM As an Eagle Scout and a veteran of 24 Quetico trips, it never occurred to me that "leave no trace camping" could include clearing the camp area by flinging all the beer cans far away into the woods in multiple directions. Great humor story. I have actually seen people do most of these things, but never all at once and never so proudly done. Nice story. Eyedocron |

01/13/2015 08:17AMquote nctry: "I was laughing from when you were taking your three kids all one year apart with different mothers right to the end. " I think you should see if Stu will run this... BWCA journal needs a lighter story every now and again. Thanks for helping me start my day with a smile!! |

01/12/2015 10:33PM Love your style! Uncle Jethro taught you well. This trip had it all; beer, girl scouts, ingenuity, Dinty Moore farts, bears, nakididity, bottle rockets..... woooooeeeeee! Can't stop laughing. Next time bring the dog and let Fido take the pictures? |

01/12/2015 10:08AMquote nooneuno: "Of course not everyone knows all our sewers run into Tanners, I wouldn't fish there. I do still deer hunt at Phalen though." Why go way over to Phalen when there’s all that space in Ramsey (Battle Creek) Park? Just don’t drive the deer too close to Century Ave. If you happen to get off a shot it might make the guards at the Workhouse nervous. : ) |
