I have a party of 5 wanting to visit Your Lake in the fall around Labor Day or after. Specific reason is they want to fish for big smallmouth.
I have never been to Your. My concern is twofold:
1) Big smallmouth in the fall are tough to find. Will likely have to jig deep and these guys are not experienced jig fishermen.
2) I also do not know Your bottom structure to locate deep smallmouth, so we will start from scratch with a fish finder.
OK you experts out there - do we stand a chance or are we wishing for too much?
I recommended same trip but in the spring for shallow water fishing - no luck. Seems it is Fall or nothing.

Wish I could help you, O.H. Haven't been there. Maybe we'll serve as the search party and go in there in June.

Thanks Goose and Jackfish. We'll see if someone else responds. I may post it on general forum fishing thread also.
Goose - you don't "owe" me at all, my friend. Glad to help on any info. Just wish you would have caught more fish.
Yup - some guys are "chick magnets" and I end up being a magnet for big, slimy fish with long teeth. That's why I stay away from salt water! HA!

Old Hoosier, I did a search on the QuietJourney forum and got quite a few hits, but nothing more substantial than the island campsite being nice and a few walleyes being caught. I know that Kingfisher, Snow Dog and Jim J Solo have all been through there, for sure. You might try posting over there. (BTW, I'm planning another Q solo from Beaverhouse, probably in late July, and maybe I'll give the Badwater area another try -- we'll see.) --Goose
Soloing is sweet, but a good partner is "priceless."

Goose,
Thanks for the help on QJ site. I'll try a post to see what I can get.
Glad to hear you are plannig another solo. Hope you get a chance to get over to Badwater. It has always treated me well. As usual - any info you feel you need I will supply if possible - no secrets.
How's the retired life treating you?
Good paddling.
