I guided a short trip (Mar 4-6) from Moose Lake EP up to Newfound Lake. We camped just NE of the portage from Newfound to Found. Three slept in the hot tent, I slept outdoors under a tarp. Conditions were excellent as we followed the packed dog sled trail most of the way. We never encountered any slush but could see old evidence that others had in a few spots.

We took a day trip to Manomin Lake which looks like it would be a beautiful place to explore in other seasons as well. The winter trail between Found and Manomin is very scenic with pockets of aspen, thick pine, bogs, and beaver dam.

Temperatures were comfortable with lows of 10 at night (winds 5-10) and day time temps around 25. Easy living in the hot tent.

Looks and sounds awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Did you have to break trail in the woods (portage trails) at all?

Beautiful pics thanks for sharing. Can't ask for better weather and conditions than that. What model Snowtrekker is that?

We never needed to break any trails, portage or otherwise. It was packed beyond Manomin Lake as well as points north towards Knife. We encountered two men coming from Bailey Bay, pulling their sleds and skijoring with 3 dogs.

We used a Shortwall which fit 3 women comfortably (no cots). We could have fit me as well (cozy!), but I opted to be outside being the guide and wanting to give them some privacy.

We did have good weather! I head out again to winter camp in a couple of days and it looks like we'll have some cold temps - one last blast I'm guessing before winter breaks.
