Alone - this is a book about a guy who fell overboard in a storm in the Indian ocean by Indonesia, he spent over 24 hours in the water before being rescued. Obviously he couldn’t have written the book if he had died, nor would anyone known what happened to him and that’s one problem with the book, you know the ending!

Adrift – A man & a woman sail from Polynesia to San Diego and get caught in a hurricane, again at least one has to survive to write the book. There is also a movie which I suggest watching first if you are going to do both. Both are nice diversions in January.

In the mid 1980s a book about a solo sailor who capsized and spent 76 days in a raft came out. It is called Adrift and was an incredible read. Your mention of this new book with the same title brought back an old memory.

thanks, I'll have to read that one

the one I posted took place in 1983 and was originally called Red Sky in Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss, and Survival at Sea
since it is January you might enjoy the trailer , the movie was shot in the south Pacific https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=If2lCD0SQrE

I like Shailene Woodley. Will definitely catch the movie when it's streaming on a platform that I have.

I want to mention one more I loved in this genre. It's the true tale of a family of 6 who sailed the world in a Catamaran. It's very well told by the wife.
