Glad she wasn't injured worse than that. My sister took a fall like that on a knee when hiking in Alaska. Hers was so deep and wide she had to be helicoptered out.
Looks like some much needed R & R was still achieved despite the interruption to your plans. Hopefully you will all get back up there soon.
aww. that's sad it ended so soon. Slippery stuff awaiting the wrong footing is always lurking. Gotta think like an old person. Always a 3-point contact when getting in or out of canoe/kayak. Otherwise, a hiking pole or DIY stick helps a lot for balance but it is the curse of accidents to not see it coming. :)
