The photo reminds me of a largely secluded bay on LLC just north of Never Fail Bay. Fished it this summer. There's a nice deep hole in the middle of it with some interesting structure on the north end and along the shorelines.

A story and a hint, since I am bored:
Upon arrival at this site, I started setting up camp and Cerberus explored the island. (She's on point [squirrel!] in this photo, which is NOT from this site or lake.)
Some days fade in my memory, but this one is still sharp, because not 30 minutes after we landed she comes back in a good mood. TOO GOOD of a mood. Suspicious, even. Once she was within 10 feet I knew why. Somewhere she had found an absolutely putrid, rotting fish. And rolled in it, nuzzled it and showed it just how much she really cared. She smelled ungodly (Cerberus, right?) - that odor of decay with an acrid edge - can't forget it - and I spent an hour cleaning her.
An hour after that - deja vu - total repeat! I am at wit's end. Leave or stay?
I spent an hour hunting on the island for the carcass - and eventually did find it! A whole smallmouth, rotting to the point where it would smear, way back behind the latrine, almost certainly dropped by an eagle. Built a large stone cairn over it, problem solved.
Oh, I did promise a hint: There is just the one campsite on this island.

Next hint:
From this lake you can portage to a dead-end lake (is that the right term? or is there some canoe-tripping specialty word for a lake with only one portage in/out?)
And Cowdoc, before you read too much into this...the portage is a maintained, official portage.

I am not a long-term “Name That Lake” participant, so this is a serious question - at what point do we cut our losses on a lake and just give up? I feel bad hogging a perfectly enjoyable pastime with a riddle that seems to befuddle everyone.
If you think we should just stick a fork in it, say so, and I promise not to have my feelings hurt.
Much.
Well, maybe a very little.
But let’s review, shall we?
A) 3 photos that show a young arboreal forest - I am sure you all know why it is young
B) All photos taken from the same campsite
C) That is the only campsite on an Island (props for your effort Cowdoc, that is definitely something I might have done with Rock Island!)
D) The Lake has Smallmouth Bass, Eagles and Loons (and possibly Lions, Tigers & Bears, oh my)
E) Dead-End Lake adjacent, one official/maintained portage off the lake in question
F) You can get from an EP to this lake in 3 portages
I have maybe one or two more clues I could give until we are down to “it’s directly in-beween this lake and that lake”
So…keep buggering on like Churchill, or throw in the towel?

I've already looked at all my Voyageurs. Island campsite in what appears to be west end/side of lake in burn zone, 3 portages from ep, portage to dead end lake.....I can never match all 3 biggies. Just tryin to figure out how old the burn is. We are down to Ham, Famine, Red Eye, maybe Pagami. Other hangup is wondering if that is main bank to west or another island, peninsula or whatever, which would negate this island being in west end of lake. Like the island in the east end of Long Island that looks west to main bank. Oh....I've looked....

OK Jaywalker, we'll let it ride!
But I still feel like the dull, feeble school-kid who is asked to give a presentation they are wholly unprepared for…
Does not feel quite right holding court with this round of Name Cowdoc’s Lake for so long; however as long as there are no cutting criticisms nor pointed rumblings upsetting my very delicate ego, we shall continue with the next hint:
This lake is NOT in the Ham Lake Fire Zone.
I will throw more hints out today if necessary.

The growth show a fire from about 15 years ago if it’s a recent pic.
Just a guess.
There was a heavy burn up the Granite river some time back.
Once again, just a guess. There are an awful lot of burned out lakes from several notorious fires and some not so notorious.

HighnDry, I thought about that and a couple other big hints but I don’t want to spoon-feed the answer to anyone, at least until the angry bwca.com mob unsheathes their weapons and comes after me!
Another hint: This lake is NOT in the Pagami Fire Zone

There was some small fire damage on Knife near Thunder Point. There is an island campsite there and Portage lake is a dead end lake off Knife and you can get to Knife in 3 portages. The pics don't really match up.....kind of, kinda not. Let's roll with Knife. Checking back....I see someone even guessed Portage.

Yes, Cowdoc, indeed: KNIFE, just into the South Arm.
A) So the major misdirect with this one was, of course, that the small burn (prescribed, I believe, in 2005 [tumblehome nailed the fire’s apparent age as 15 years ago]) on Knife is not shown on most burn maps.
E) The dead-end lake is indeed called Portage Lake, on the west end of Knife. Believe I used the word Portage 4 times in that hint. (Interestingly, as Cowdoc points out, Heavylunch guessed Portage Lake.)
F) 3 Portages from EP55 on Saganaga.
Photos all taken from campsite #1454, about a mile east of Thunder Point.
I don’t know about all of you bwcadotcominterwebians but I quite enjoyed NCL#29!

Jaywalker: "That was a good one. After scrutinizing lots of obscure lakes, I was starting to wonder if it was one of the big ones. That's the burn you go through when you portage to Bonnie, right? "
Exactly, just so!
