Maybe he is thinking of moving to Alaska and trying out for the Katmai Park fat bear week.

He reminds me of one of the bears at the Bear Center in Ely. But that bear was very fat from growing up in captivity. Of course, with food provided by humans, this bear might be similar.

Holy schnikeys! I feel bad for any trees he climbs. This is astonishing in a drought year when food was scarce. That bear’s still going to look fat when he emerges next spring.

This summer I went to the Vince Schute Sanctuary near Orr, MN where they leave food out for the bears to come eat as much as the bear wants and saw more than one bear that looked as fat as this one.
