For the deep East-west oriented lakes off the Gunflint (Gunflint, Loon, Daniels, Clearwater, etc), what are the forage types seen in those lakes?

I’m guessing crayfish are in the shallows, and the smallmouth probably have some amount of cannibalism - eating smaller smallmouth, and eating lake trout fry as well.

Are there sizable populations of perch, ciscoes, shiners, or whitefish in these lakes?

GunflintTrailAngler: "Ciscoes and bugs."

X2!

The lakes with the biggest walleye and trout have good Cisco forage in my experience. There are some with perch as well I believe? (Thinking Gunflint).

Check out MN DNR Lakefinder. You can see which species are present in each lake.
