Yes, he is old enough now to really pull his own weight. Next time he'll be portaging the canoe on his own. I need to get him to the point that he can carry all of the load so that I can just coast along as I get older!

Your paddle partner definitely looks big enough to portage the canoe. I thought he was going to be 8 or 9 years old. Thanks for sharing the trip report, and the video was a treat.
We had the same kind of wind in mid-May. I've come to the realization, BWCA stand for Bodaciously Windy Canoe Area.

Thanks for the report. Sometimes the fishing is better when the weather is bad. Looks like they were biting pretty good for you guys.
I'm taking my 17 year old son in august. I hope our luck with the fish is as good as yours. Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves.

Nice report, espcecially since I can relate well to it. My 11 yo son and I returned from our 3rd base camping trip together to Saganagons just prior to your entry date. I was complaining about the warm weather we had and don't feel so bad now since we usually go the week you were up there. Still working on our trip report...it's long, so it'll be a little bit longer before I finish it and get it posted.

One more note - living in Houston, I knew very little about how to prepare for a trip to Quetico. I wouldn't have made the trip without the help of the people on this board. Even though I now own most of the books written on Quetico, this board was the best source of advice. Reflecting on my last trip, I believe I was very prepared and I would not have done anything differently or packed anything else. Thanks to all of you for your help and your willingness to share information.

Thanks for sharing Gary. Rain or shine (and wind) every trip is great in my book. On my June trip with two of my daughters we had white-caps, wind in our face going in and out (7 miles)-girls still had a blast - amazing place. "gons" is one of my favorite lakes. Fishing has always been fantastic. If you love the area - you should consider pushing on NW down the falls chain to Kawnipi or NE to Mack. If you want some details on those routes - let me know.
