Chilly that was a great report - i can just picture you all (even though we've never met) running, screaming like a bunch of girls. Made me laugh - thanks for sharing that!

Awesome. The Polly bear legend lives......

That's a great story. One I'm sure you never hope to relive but something that bonded you guys forever.

I wonder if it's th same bear that to this day gets peoles pacs on Polly. We went through there in 2008 and heard all kinds of stories from people coming out of Polly abot a huge bear going from camp to camp.

It was a great read. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the report. That does not sound like a bear I want to meet.

Scream to read, now my adrenaline was working just thinkin about it.
"Once Bens hit the beast with a rock the brute dropped onto all fours and started charging us. Not knowing it was a bluff charge it was every man for himself, running every which way flaring arms in the air and screaming like girls." (I bet you slept lightly this night)

We didn't sleep at all. Nobody had the "seeds" to go into a tent with a bear on our little island. We were all huddled around the fire freaking out at every little noise.....(wow we were a bunch of pansies). The bear stayed on the island for hours. Once the sun started coming up, we combed the island for all the garbage and to quadruple check to make sure Yogi was gone. Finally got a couple hours of shut eye the next morning before heading back out with our tails between our legs

Vanny, I think I would have found a big stick and sharpened it while I was cuddled up worrying. Would have been in vain, but made me feel like I had a better weapon then my ussual filet knife or pocket knife.
(Just Kidding) I would have done the same thing as you all...I know I couldn't sleep after that...

Enjoyable report, thanks! If you can't laugh at yourself.... ;-)

I'm not laughing though. I would have been the same way. Hey, it was dark. Darkness adds a whole new element.

Great reports (both versions)....it is good to remember that island sites are not safe; bears can and obviously do swim. Loved the humor - it will definately be a trip to remember!
