jd- I noticed that you had a wire grill in some of your trip photos. Did you bring that along? I assume the fire grates consist of a pile of rocks, if they exist at all.

Sort of like this.

the grill is a Purcell Trench, outfitter/guide size, and might be out of production. heirloom piece of equipment, if you call Don Tryon and talk nice, maybe he'll make one for you.

we cook exclusively with wood on these trips, and eat very well with caloric intake in mind to maintain a high energy level. we also always have fresh hot coffee on the corner of grill while in camp, and that's why you see that old black perc pot in so many of the photos. can't do that with gas, and we wouldn't want to carry all that fuel anyway. we do have a single burner stove and some fuel for emergency use.

the grill is carried sandwiched between a piece of 5mm luan and a hardsided food pack. the luan is also a fish board.
