Really sucks, it seems like we have to go farther and farther into the abyss in order to get a bit of solitude. I personally love the smallies I think they are the best fighters # 4 # and their acrobatics are second to none.

They're not just acrobatics. They're aerobats. They twist (and I shout) more in one jump than Michael Jordan managed in the whole of his career.

You're right about the creep of our species. One has to endure evermore discomfort to be free of our fellow apes.

Neighbor. 14 years old. I took him last year too.

Wish I had you for a neighbor when I was 14! Anthony

Me too. I wish I'd had someone who took me north and put me on fish.

Not sure if it is a case of the word spreading on the internet about good lakes or if folks are just more adventurous with the security of GPS, but I have to agree that solitude is getting harder to come by.

Thanks for sharing...and yes I am jealous of your fishing success...

I don't use GPS. Heck, I don't even use a compass. I carry a map, but I mostly pay attention to where I've been. Catching fish for me is mostly a matter of fishing where most people don't fish.

Indy is nice, but it's too hot. I live in Wisconsin and that's too hot! When I move and it won't be long, it'll be to the ocean. Move too and I'll take you!

You don't use a compass? I do, and I'm known as "the human compass" at home when getting people around town.

Nope. I study the lakes and always know where I am, so I always know which way north is.

Even though your prime lake was invaded, your resilience and knowledge of the area got the trip back on track. Congrats on the heavy fishing action.

Like you, I sudy maps to the point that I almost always know where I am and what direction I am traveling. I do carry a compass.....just in case.
