Fitgers1 post got me to thinking; we haven't done this for a while and with all the new members, and all the new trips this year, maybe we can see some new set-ups.

I gotta tell ya; I don't know what it is about stringing up a tarp, but I must say it is one of my favorite things to do while camping in the boundary waters. Seriously! I'm not joking here. Sometimes I get it set up and take it down to "Re-adjust" (Even though it was fine the first time.)

So please!.......SHOW US YOUR TARPS!

15x15
It's the 1.9oz not the ligher 1.1oz(Not sure if the 1.1 was availibe when I purchased it 10+ years ago??) At some point I'd like to get the 1.1 but, it is not at the top of my wish list quite yet.

I almost got a green & yellow tarp from CCS, but didn't want to be mistaken for a Packers fan so I opted for green and white.

08/20/2011 10:56AM
Maybe we can get them to make one in Purple and Gold?

Dan is near Minneapolis... maybe he could oblige. The Vikes need all the help they can get..

Yes, them in Lino Lakes.

Moss Outfitter Wing. Sadly, Moss is no longer in the personal outdoor use tent and tarp business. Super huge with many possible configurations and built tough! The only drawback, it weighs a ton!

Picture from September 2010 on Ogish. Couldn't find a shot without people in it, doh!

Off-topic, but I've got a Big Agnes Parkview 3, too, and it's been a great tent so far. Love its vestibule with the extra pole.

This is ccs 10x10 that I rented. It worked great. So easy to use with all the tie outs. A 10x14 1.1 oz is on my wish list.

CCS tarp virgin until this summer! Two trips so far. Photo on left is on Winchell from an August trip, and one on right is on Finger on a trip from hell earlier in June. Spent the whole day in a brutal head wind and downpour, and was feeling pretty good when I got the tarp set up into the wind! Love the tarp, only now I need a bigger one...

jcavenagh: This is a standard CCS tarp - we just folded up one of the corners on the inside of the tarp.

I picked up a 16 a few yrs ago because it was on sale for 50 bucks. Good base camper, sets up a million different ways. Some places are small for it, but I roll or tuck the excess...never a problem.
i like it. Not a minimalist, so.........great!

Me three on the Parkview. Really like the vestibule first time I've seen other's picks of this tent.

On Omega July 4th batoned down for severe weather.
Big note the bungee cord trick for tieing off tarp worked perfect.
No ripped tarp we stayed dry except for the rope letting loose on the
canoe and having to tackle it before the it blew away.

What an ugly tarp. Did they run out of a color and had to mix?

My new Noah's tarp on its first trip to the Bdub. Nope, I don't put the tent under the tarp. Just did it this time as it was raining during set-up and it just worked fine the rest of the trip. Might do it again.

Nope, I picked the colors out myself (with the help of an Italian Designer.)
And for the record. I am not a Packers fan...or a fan of any sport for that matter. (Unless camping is a sport)

i like the yellow/green. mines all yellow, warm glow on dark days.

Warbonnet Superfly. The best feature besides being sil nylon is that it has two removable panels for both ends in case of really nasty weather. You can see them on the far end. They can also be positioned to close it off entirely.

My Sportsman's Guide cheapo tarp that has been a fantastic piece of gear for many years now. Jordan Lake in 07 during the fire ban so we turned the fire grate into a lounge area.

Den and tool shed, if a bird flies through here he better pay attention Put this one over the tent, rained 3 days straight, nice to have little dry spot to get in and out

Like s500yards, I used my tarp as my shelter while hiking the border route trail this past spring. I should have tucked in the back corners but I was too cold. :)

Initially I didn't either. I was thinking green & yellow too, as they're nice colors. Then one day I was out at the forest preserve, on mile twelve of a twelve mile run. I pass a couple people walking dogs, and one of them says, "Boo, Packers!". I thought, what the hell was that for,...then notived I was wearing green shorts with a yellow shirt. I hate to say that an idiot like that influenced my color decision, but maybe just a little,....

This one is in honor of my online tarp mentor, butthead! Excuse the cheap blue tarp but it was all I had!

It was my first time stringing up a tarp and I used two key tips... utilize a ridge line and Dealee Bobs on the corners to keep the grommets from ripping out.

Cheap tarp road out a stormy night on the Gunflint this past week due to the rigging tips gleaned here. Great to have a dry place to hang out during the showers. CCS tarp is now on my wish list.

OK, so I just have to show you our tarp after we made some adjustments to it so we could have a screen tent when we visited Ima(mosquito) Lake last summer!

Forgot to mention that we use a telescoping aluminum pole to support the center.

sleepnbag, I noticed that it looks like you use one of those as well. Bought ours at Hoigaard's years ago, (I used to work there in the camping dept) We love the pole and saves the trees.
