Finally finished my new CanYak paddle. It's 244cm, separates in the middle with one side converting to a straight shaft single paddle, and uses some of the same cedar used in my Merlin. The entire paddle weighs less than one half of my last one. The notches near the top of the blades is the drip protection. They work much better than the normal drip rings.

Very cool, I like the cut outs too. That's something way different.

And love the fact that they are multi use.

I like paddling my Merlin with a double blade, but I hate the drips. Drip rings don't seem to do much good. So, the that notch really works?

The notch really works. I have never had any water run up the shafts.

Learn something new everyday. Never heard of notching the blade to keep water from dripping hmmmmmm. Pretty cool
