Although your trip was short and you endured torrential rain, this is a trip you will remember forever! Here's hoping you have perfect weather for you August trip!

I feel your pain. We were at EP #16 on Lake Agnes that week. We got to our camp at 11:30 am and set up camp. Had 3 tarps with this year year. We had a 26 hr rain event. Started Tuesday at noon and finally quit Wed. around 2:30 pm. Rain again that night and drove us to the tents at 8:30 pm. Thursday the winds were strong and the sun was out. Dried all our gear. Every trip is an adventure!
Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

Wow! We were up on Knife Lake during that storm. Luckily we were able to just sit it out under our tarp. We got the rain but not as much as you did being further south. It only rained for 14 hours at one stretch! lol Nice report!

Truly a trip to never be forgotten. Even with bad weather, I think every trip is a blast. I hope you were able to enjoy some of it. Last August we were on Kelly on a low site that rose to the east. I think if we had been there during this particular rain we would have been washed out to the lake.
How do you like the Barracuda? Is it yours or a rental? I intend to have a new dble kevlar by August and really like the Barracuda but there isn't enough weight loss when compared to my aluminum. I am hoping to drop a lot more weight.

Fitgers, I love the Barracuda (first canoe I ever bought!), but yea, the weight is about 13lbs heavier than a Kevlar UL model (when I bought it, Wenonah's catalog materials were actually out of date and under reported the correct weight specs) . Every pounds counts when portaging. I just picked up a MNII KevUL to try out on the August trip, I still plan to bring the Barracuda for my sister's canoe! I upgraded the CVCA pads on it after the trip to Gen2, so I'm hoping the portaging will be a little better come August!
The rain was something else, it rained/lightning/thundered for almost a day and I will never forget this trip (and my girlfriend will also continue to remind me about it!!) We dried out Thursday too at my parents property on Wilson Lake, the sun felt WONDERFUL!!

I sure wish you could have had better weather. I've traveled from Cherokee to Sawbill and thought it a wonderful area. Had a moose encounter on Cherokee Creek! It wasn't the trip you'd planned for but it should give plenty of memories and topic for conversation!!
