I am thinking about going with a larger tarp. I have a Clark NX 250 and I have previously used the tarp that came with it. It works nicely, as I've been out in 40 mile an hour winds with heavy rain, and stayed dry and comfortable. However, I think I'd like a little more space underneath.. I'm thinking about an 8 by 12 tarp for more space. Anyone use a larger tarp, and have comments good or bad?

I use a tarp that is 10'10" x 8'6". I like the extra coverage it affords in foul weather. I can close the "doors" and get 360 degree protection from wind blown mist. I can also pitch the whole shebang low to give an almost tent-like feel.

I replaced my tiny stock HH tarp with a Kelty Noah 9 and that worked pretty good for several years. Rode out a MAJOR storm under it. But now I have upgraded to a CCS 10x12 and that is a great tarp and I feel much more secure under it.

So far I've gone with a 12 x 12 foot (actually measured at 11 1/2 x 11 1/2) Guide Gear tarp that I already had. I had to add my own center tie outs, which was very easy to do. With all the numerous tie outs on the tarp,I too am able to close it up tight at the ends like doors. I think it works great, ...and the price was certainly right!

Mort, You must have gotten that GG tarp before the generously measured batch I got into last year? A 12x12 was measured on the diagonal so it ended up being 8.5x8.5 of something like that. 15x15 was about 11x11. My buddy used that one last year and after a day of wind there wasn't a tie out left on it. Real POS. made over seas.I read the earlier models were much better quality.
Another vote for a super fly. Phenomenal tarp.

I have one of those GG tarps. I got it a couple years ago. I haven't had it out in any heavy wind, but I did reinforce the tie-outs and added center loops.
