Hey QueticoMike, are you from or did you spend some time in Cincinnati? I came across a post on the local fishing forum that had some of your small mouth pics on there. Just curious...

Thanks everyone, it was one of my better fishing trips that is for sure. A big thanks goes out to my partner for helping us get to where the fish were and for taking some quality photos, couldn't have done it without him!

He took some short video clips with his camera too but they have static on them. I posted them on YouTube, maybe I will start a new thread and put the links out there. I think when it was quite and no background noise the camera didn't know how to adjust and created static. The one video with the rapids in the background and constant noise came out out fine without any static.

Yup, people were drooling over them pretty bad. I've seen some pics of 19 inch smallmouth coming out of the little miami that look pretty nice too though.

Haha couldnt resist! If only they were that big....
On a more serious note, how do you like to fish the Zulu? Do you just use it as a jerkbait, or just retrieve it, top water ... etc. And as a follow up do you catch northern/walleye the same way or does this typically target bass?

I thought you did a great job on that, it looks almost real.

I mostly fish it as a jerk bait. I use a barrel swivel and 12 inch line leader tied to the hook. The retrieve is a simple twitch, twitch, pause. It just "walks the dog" and has a dying, flutter look to it that just drives the bass nuts. To use as topwater you have to go sans the swivel, but then you get nasty line twists.

I caught northern and walleye the same exact way. All depends on where I am fishing, but mostly catch smallmouth on this rig. If you wanted to jig it deep for walleye, it would work that way too.

I have caught a few northerns over 40 inches on the lure. No monster walleye yet.
