Martin Step of from Green valley Canoe has a picture and article of a John Winters Winisk that he built then dyed the strips. If I recall, lots of detail and I'm sure you could use those tips for your accent strip. Also it works fine without any problem from the epoxy.
Were you planning on doing it after you had sanded and fared the hull or before hand? Doing so before hand and you might run into penetration issues, doing so afterwards and it might bleed to other strips.
Thanks to both of you for your responses to my question about wood dye. I have a marquetry piece that I am going to overlay on the strips. There is quite a bit of green color in them and I thought that running a green strip the length of the boat up to that piece would be a nice touch. I thought I would dye the strips first and then include them during stripping. However, that was some time ago. Having no clear answers, I went ahead without dyeing the accent strips.
