Just got back from the BWCA. Spent a lot of time fishing Lakes 3 and 4. Had leeches and caught a ton of walleye jigging in 10-15 FOW. Almost any windy point would produce. Also found a few "honey holes" Also did well casting the shoreline for Pike and Bass with a SkitterPop. Topwater pike are a blast. If they missed it once, you know they were coming for a second pass. Got a few 18+ smallmouth including a 20 + that after 5 spectacular jumps did this to me.
No worries. Some nifty work with a pliers by the wife then back to fishing.

Well as soon as it happened my wife looked back from the front seat of canoe and said. It looks bad! We need to GO. I gave it a couple tugs and knew it was buried, so I cut the line and we paddled back to camp with it hanging from my head. After the usual jokes and lots of picture's they went to work getting me free. First the girls were able to get the lure free of the hook without to much tugging. Then my wife took over. I had to remind her to stay calm and she would have to twist the hook through to get at the barb, this took a little force to push it through bit not much pain or blood. After a couple tries she got it done. We didn't have a tool to cut it so she was able to pinch the barb and back it out. I was lucky, it was close to the eye. But all well that ends well. Now just add it to the list of BWCA memories. I will probably never hear the end of it. I went back to that area a few more times to try and catch that monster bass again but no luck.

I have a pair of pliers to remove fish hooks from fish, but I make sure those same piers have a wire cutters too remove and snip the shank from embedded hooks in humans. Speaking from experience.
