Hey anybody. I am interested in checking out this lake and camping for a few nights this fall. There may be a chance at a musky.
Anybody know anything? It looks like it might be pretty cool.

My info is a bit old, I have not camped out there in a while and been a bit since I gave it any heavy fishing time. Nice sites, decent spacing and somewhat wooded. Lightly used once there is the first cold snap. Good shower houses, etc if you need them.
Short drive to main lake and can rent boat or bring your own/ Forget what the motor limit is. Lots of good maps available from local shops or the park shop. Have a good time! Some huge fish in there

If you have a boat it is a nice place to fish. The campground is okay and can get quite crowded in the summer. Overall a decent place.

Thanks a million guys. I have canoes. I think I may check it out. I have meant to for years. I'm hoping it's a good option for decent camping and fishing close to home. Sounds pretty cool.

I think I'm going to go down there early Sunday and go fishing and check out the camping. I've been meaning to check it out for years. I've been exploring new fishing and camping spots closer to home. I'm psyched to give this a go.

I camped there once. Not many secluded sites but thus time of year there may be some available. It's a family campground more than anything. Great access to the lake.

I am heading down to Shawnee National Forest for some primitive camping in a week or so. I have never been there but am looking forward to some hiking and camping.

Sweet! My thumb's next mission is to google the Shawnee National Forest. I am digging these closer to home destinations.

I will give you a short trip report when we get back. I have heard the scenery is beautiful.

I've been checking it out. The only national forest in Illinois. Looks like mostly backpacking. It also looks like hillbilly country. I don't know if you play banjo but you might just want to bring one along for trade if you get in a jam. Just kidding. Tell us all about it. People don't realize how long a state that Illionois is till you drive the length of it. That's a truck from my crib. I'm kissing Wi. That's a lot of pasture... Whoa Nellie.
Have fun! I want to hear about great escapes in Illinois.
I'm going to Shabbona this Sunday. Go fishing and scope it out. I may as well report back. Cya!
