I'd been meaning to try a certain taproom down in Fresno, since it opened about a year ago. I gallery sit at a photography gallery about once a month. Within two blocks, there is a brewery and two taprooms. One taproom is very convenient, straight across the street from the gallery. That is probably why I hadn't gotten around to trying Goldstein's Mortuary and Delicatessen which is further away. The main reason to have a look is the strange decor. An old fashioned motor boat with a shiny wood deck makes a large table and a giant mural of an octopus with a lady's face takes up one wall.
Anyway, I stopped Friday night after closing the gallery. Forty-six beers on the menu, all on tap except for one bottle offering. Four or five offerings were from Mother Earth Brewing of whom I'd never heard. I chose Imagination Land which is a nitro golden coffee milk stout. I usually don't care for nitro but this looked interesting. In short, Imagination Land turned out to be one of those really special beers that I won't be able to get out of my mind.
Unfortunately, I know of nowhere else in Central California where Mother Earth has provided guest beers. On top of that guest beers are usually rotated. Worse yet, ME does not bottle.
Sin Tax, another ME stout on Goldstein's menu, is a gold medal winner. Maybe I'll try that after my next IL. I think I'll hurry my next trip to Fresno and take family or friends.
ME's brewery is located in the greater San Diego area. They sell home brewing equipment and give brewing classes. It's worth a visit if you're traveling in Southern California.
The business of life is the acquisition of memories. In the end that's all there is. ___Mr Carson (Downton Abby)
