09/28/2018 01:32PM I'd enter at Lake One or South Kawishiwi if I were you. Gabbro is nice, lots of walleyes (depending on how they are hitting of course) but the river would have way less impact from wind. |

09/27/2018 03:05PM Lake one entry, take the four portages down the river, first campsite on left, caught a lot of fish there, or the island campsite, then you can day trip from there, have fun. |

09/27/2018 10:02AM We did that trip a couple years back. Here's the trip report . It was by no means a 5 star site but, we did have decent fishing near our camp. |

09/26/2018 01:54PM The best campsites for fishing from shore are probably #1129 or #1131, both between the portage from Little Gabbro and the portage to Clear Lake. JD |

09/26/2018 01:09PM I am hoping to get out for a 3 night basecamp trip the 2nd week of October somewhere around the Kawishiwi Triangle. I have never been to this part of the BWCA. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice campsite that I can hangout and fish from shore in this area? I am looking at either entering from Lake 1 and staying near the northeast corner of the triangle, or entering from Gabbro and staying near the southern tip of the triangle. Thanks! |
